NURSE EARNS CERTIFIED INFECTION CONTROL CREDENTIAL

Glendive, Montana, January 23, 2012 - Glendive Medical Center (GMC) is pleased to announce Jamie Heyen, RN and Infection Control Practitioner, has earned the Certified in Infection Control (CIC) credential. To receive the credential, Heyen passed a comprehensive examination about infection prevention and control. "Infections can have devastating effects on a person's life and ability to function. We continually strive to keep our patients and residents safe and free of infection. I am privileged to be able to help with this goal," Heyen said.

The exam was administered by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC). The purpose of the certification process is to protect the public by providing standardized measurement of current basic knowledge needed for anyone practicing infection control. Approximately 5,000 people have the certification worldwide, which is maintained through successful completion of a recertification examination every five years.
